WebLog Expert supports report translation using language files. These files have .lng extension and are located in the Languages subfolder of the WebLog Expert data folder (usually C:\Program Files\WebLog Expert under Windows XP/2003 or older and C:\ProgramData\WebLog Expert under Windows Vista/2008/7 or newer). If the Languages subfolder is missing, you should install the language pack to create it. The format of the .lng files is very simple. Note: If you use Windows Vista/2008/7 or newer, the ProgramData folder isn't shown by default (unlike the Program Files folder), so you need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders. To do it, click the Organize button on the toolbar in Windows Explorer and choose the "Folder and search options" item. Open the "View" tab and select the "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" option. You should download the following template file: template.zip [6 kb]. Unpack, rename it to the file with the name of your language like German.lng, and edit it. You should edit the file with any text editor that doesn't add special characters, e.g. Notepad. If you create a new version of an existing language file (not a completely new file) you can download a package that can help you do it: WLELangFill.zip [186 kb]. This file contains WebLog Expert Language Template Filler, a program that automatically fills the template file with values that already exist in the old language file. You can download all the available old language files: languages.zip [171 kb]. This archive includes translations for the following languages: Bulgarian, Chinese Simp., Chinese Trad., Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Braz.), Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. KeyName="String in target language" As you see language files can contain multiple key=value entries with key specified either by name or original string in English. Values don't need to be quote delimited so the following lines will be handled correctly: "String in English"=String in target language
KeyName=String in target language However, we recommend you to use quote delimited values except for entries which already have such format in the template file. You can use the following special characters in the values:
\' - quote
%s, %ProfileName%, %Goal%, %TrackedFile%, %Item% - special macros. They will be replaced with some strings during report generation. These macros must be also used in the translation strings. For example:
"Report for %ProfileName%"="... %ProfileName% ..."
"Time range: %s"="... %s ..."
{sp} - non-breaking space. This character is mostly used in the table column names. You should use it only if an original string in English contains these characters. You can also use comments: ;Some comments The language template file contains entries that can be easily filled in a text editor. Entries with strings in English are specified like the following: "String in English"="" So you should just insert a string in the target language. For most entries with key names original value in English is specified: KeyName="String in English" In this case you need to replace the string in English with the appropriate translation. |
